Get yourselves down to Proud Galleries and check out Revere, SonVer and Captive State. Headliners Revere are becoming increasingly difficult to categorise. Incorporating violin, cello, keys, trumpet and harp into a three guitar-led sound. Revere touch on numerous musical reference points, combining elements of gypsy marches, klezmer, post rock, film scores and gospel into a truly unique sound.
Also up are SonVer, the band’s music has attracted the attention of several film production companies, who have used SonVer’s work on the soundtracks to their films. Recently, SonVer were commissioned by Dutch production company Orphic to write a soundtrack for their film ’Fade’
And finally we have Captive State. Captive State can mostly be found holed up in their Whitechapel studio, writing, recording and developing sounds and songs for their first LP. Their first release, a double a-side single of 'Mona' & 'China White Doll', will be released 1st September 2008, followed by a 4 track EP on 22nd September.
Captive State’s Tom Bootle and Joseph Kennedy were first encouraged by Brian Eno’s enthusiastic response to their earliest demos and then teamed up with Lemon Jelly’s Nick Franglen at the tail end of 2007 and found the perfect producer to bring life to their creation. The first fruits of these labours, which provides a sweet taster of what to expect, is the four song EP called, ‘Elmore Grove’.
