After having already played seventy-three dates across the UK and Europe supporting the legendary Joan Armtrading during 2010, Lisbee Stainton returns with her new single, ‘Harriet’.

Released on September 20th to coincide with the UK leg of her tour, ‘Harriet’ is the latest single to be taken from 22-year old Lisbee’s critically acclaimed album ‘Girl On An Unmade Bed’, which was recorded at Abbey Road in the legendary Beatles Studio 2 with producer Rupert Christie (U2, Kate Bush, Coldplay, Lou Reed) and was released to much critical acclaim in March this year.

Unusually, Lisbee wrote ‘Harriet’ in order to get some peace. “When I was at University my friend Harriet kept hassling me to write a song about her. In the end I did just so she’d stop going on about it,” Lisbee explained. “I’m sure Harriet will be shocked when she finds out she’s now the subject of my new single. That’ll teach her!”

The single’s B-side, ‘Follow’ was recorded as a tribute to the work of Peace One Day and has since been chosen for United Nations Peace Day on September 21st 2010.

Known as The English Rose with the 8-String Guitar, London-based Lisbee launched her career when she became the first unsigned singer-songwriter to play London’s O2 Arena, performing to a 30,000 strong audience. BBC 6Music DJ Tom Robinson then asked Lisbee for a copy of her song ‘Red’ after hearing it on her MySpace page. This then led to ‘Red’ being playlisted by BBC Radio 2 at the beginning of 2009 for five weeks.

Lisbee has since had the single ‘Never Quite An Angel’ playlisted by Radio 2 for six weeks, had another single, ‘Just Like Me’, voted ‘Record of The Week’ on Radio 2’s Radcliffe & Maconie Show and played live sessions for BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio London’s Robert Elms Show. In addition, Lisbee’s set at Bristol’s Colton Hall during the Joan Armatrading tour was broadcast as part of BBC Radio 2’s ‘In Concert’ series.

Lisbee also appeared alongside stars such as Katie Melua and Judy Garland on a new compilation called ‘Latest and Greatest Women of Song’, released on Union Square Records in July 2010.

Speaking about her forthcoming tour, Lisbee said, “I made a lot of friends across the UK & Europe during the tour with Joan Armatrading, so it’s exciting to be invited back to so many of the same towns and cities with my own headline show.”

By the end of 2010 Lisbee Stainton will have spent over six months of the year on tour, cementing her reputation as not just one of the UK’s brightest songwriting talents but also one of the UK’s hardest working. Stainton added, “I’m doing it the old way, the hard way, winning new fans one by one.”
