Roxy Music Guitarist Speaks On Kanye/Jay Z Sample

Phil Manzanera - guitarist in legendary group Roxy Music - has had his guitar riff from his 1976 solo album K-Scope sampled by Kanye West and Jay-Z as the basis for the track "No Church In The Wild".

"No Church In The Wild" is the first track from their new album Watch The Throne, released August 8th.

Comments Manzanera: “I never saw this coming and I’m delighted.  When I was first contacted about  who wanted to use the riff, I did wonder if it was some sort of hoax…as the rap world and my music are not natural bedfellows, but this great track has proved otherwise.”

Phil Manzanera and Friends are performing at the International Guitar Festival, Liverpool on November 12th. The 'Friends' element is comprised of Roxy Music drummer Paul Thompson and longtime Pink Floyd musicians bassist Guy Pratt and keyboard player Jon Carin.
